The following photograph is taken on a day in mid-winter and shows a small portion of "Clayoquot Sound". The open Pacific Ocean is a short distance to the left of the photo. Spectacular waves crash upon easily accessible hard packed sandy beaches very popular with Ocean surfers. Clayoquot Sound is renowned for its whale and other wildlife observation. It is an excellent example of old growth temperate rain forest.
